Morning Routine as a News Reporter

My day starts at 2:30am — it’s weird and it is hard to get used to but you just gotta do it. It’s also super erie so early in the morning.

-I feel like 4% of America is awake and if you’re awake it’s only because you haven’t gone to bed yet to stay up playing video games/ watching Netflix.

-I do my makeup, make my lunch, and then I’m out the door

-My favorite part of the morning is passing Jim’s Steakout on Allen. It’s open 24/7 and I love seeing people have their late-night stinger. Kinda daydream about their life and what has to lead them there.

Get to Work at 3:30am— sit down, write my stories, edit my video, I’m an in-studio reporter so I do not go LIVE so all of my stuff is in house. Good and bad.

On Air at 6:15-7:00am— we on da tv. You can Live stream on  WKBW.com or download the App.

7am-9am— this is my time to look for story ideas, do social media, hang out and get ready to shoot my “enterprise story”. An enterprise story is a coined morning show term that refers to a story I will shoot the day before and then have it air the next morning. The topics vary and it’s fun because I still get to shoot and edit which I love to do!

9am-12:30pm— shooting, editing, writing, putting the story altogether. I try to get as much done as I possibly can.

Then I’m done for the day! I like to go home, eat, nap, workout, chill, get things done, still trying to figure it out what to do and a routine.

Shower, eat dinner, check the news and I’m off to bed by 8 pm. I don’t know if it’s a humble brag or not but I’m doing it.

It’s been hard to get used to but I’m trying to figure it out! I love the people I work with and the workflow it’s just the hours are a little hard to get used to. But it’s all a work in progress!
