How do you find story ideas?
I get this question a lot, how do I find the stories I tell?
Easy answer– just be curious.
Journalism school taught me to think about stories that would fit in these categories,
proximity,
significance,
timeliness,
conflict & controversy,
human interest.
What I have learned– listening, asking more questions, Facebook groups is the real answer.
Everyone has a story. Many stories are important to tell to hold people in power accountable. One thing I love about telling stories is the responsibility. Someone trusts YOU to get it right and portray them is a light that is accurate. I took this very seriously. I focused more on small businesses and evergreen stories that could be about anything.
